Ovaltine Sandwich Cookies

I don’t know how long these Ovaltine cookies have been in the market but I just saw it the other week. Because I love eating chocolate powder, just the powder – be it Milo or Ovaltine, I decided to try this one. I was hoping the filling would taste just like the Ovaltine drink powder. And I was right!

There’s actually nothing special about the taste or how it was made. It’s just plain Ovaltine sandwich cookies but I love it. It’s not too sweet, just right. It doesn’t crumble easily so it’s not messy to eat. Not too hard but just the right crispness for a sandwich cookie.

As for the price, it’s actually cheap. One box has 12 packets. And each packet contains 3 pcs.

I brought it to the office so I’d always have something to munch while I’m bored.

Try it!

Legoland Adventure

Posted by on Jan 7, 2013 in Featured, Travel | 0 comments

I had an adventure before 2012 ended. I went to Malaysia to visit LegoLand.

I just traveled by land. Took the bus (CW3/CW4) at Jurong East Bus Interchange.  The traffic jam was horrible.  The bottleneck was at the Singapore immigration/customs.  After passing through the immigration, I took the same bus going to Malaysia.  Again, traffic was a pain in the neck and almost everyone in the bus were anxious.  I guess, most of us were going to Legoland and trying to catch the 10:30AM bus.  It was already 10:20AM and we were still on the road, caught in a jam just before the Malaysia customs/immigration.

Upon reaching the immigration building, everyone were almost running toward the counters to have their passports stamped.  I was one of them.

I missed the bus.  If I wanted to take the same bus, I have to wait for another 2 hours.  That’ll be a waste of time so I asked around if there’s another bus I could take to Legoland.  Fortunately, there is still one more bus which will be passing by Legoland.  I took it and I was again, faced by another problem.  My Ringgit bills were all in 50′s and I have to pay 2RM only for the bus ride.  I have to pay the exact amount.  At this moment, I felt like I was in that amazing race show.  I have to ask everyone in the bus for a change.  I have to go around the terminal to look for a change as well.  I was running out of time because the bus will be leaving soon. The smallest change I got was in denomination of 10RM notes.  I had no choice.  I paid 10RM for a supposedly 2RM bus fare.  Goodbye 8RM.

Finally, I reached LegoLand. I was starving but I just have to take that first photo at the entrance before looking for a place to eat.

LegoLand has a MiniLand where they recreated known landmarks in Asia.  Here are a few of them:

I used my iPhone 4 to take the photos.  I have a lot more photos to share but it’ll be like leaving you with nothing to look for if I posted them all.

The place is amazing!  Kids will surely enjoy most of the activities here.

Special thanks to S.  :)

Walnut Carrot Cake

Posted by on Sep 27, 2012 in Food | 0 comments

I had a dinner with friends a couple of weeks ago at The Soup Spoon in Vivocity. The soup was delish but I wasn’t able to take a photo coz I was too hungry. All I wanted to do as soon as I have the food in front of me was to eat.

Anyway, after a bowl of soup and a piece of their pita wrap, we each ordered a piece of cake for dessert. And yes, I have a big appetite.

I ordered a slice of their walnut carrot cake. It wasn’t very sweet. It has the right amount of walnut. It didn’t overpower the taste of the carrot cake itself. I just find it too fluffy and dry for a carrot cake. And there’s nothing really special about it. I’d rate it 2.5 out of 5.

I was with good friends who I consider as my family here in Singapore. I enjoyed their company and it was more than enough for me to forget how my entire dinner tasted like that night.

Because we need something to look forward to.

We expect. We hope.

It keeps us going.

It wakes us up. It’s our light after darkness.

It makes us feel the warmth that the night has taken away from us.

Another day.

Sunrise.
